Born in Mossley in 1970, Melanie Sykes is a British-Asian model whose broad northern accent came to fame in a TV advert for Boddingtons beer.
She has gone on to a wide variety of presenting roles, including a stint filling in for the summer on The Bigger Breakfast and London travel magazine Dream Ticket. Sykes is perhaps best known for a successful partnership with Des O'Connor on the ITV daytime chat show Today with Des and Mel, which ran from 2002 until being axed in 2006.
