Synopsis
Former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe challenges four contestants who themselves claim to be "Cleverdicks" as she quick fires them a series of "proper" general knowledge questions in this rare daily primetime commission for a pay-to-view channel.
Round 1
It's a solo round for each contestant where they are given a question and then a series of clues connected to the question start to appear one by one on a video wall.
The contestant then has to figure out what the answer is based on those clues. It is worth five points if they get it on the first and hardest clue, they are given another clue if one isn't enough but the points value are deducted by one, however, they slowly get easier for each new clue they get until the last and easiest clue is worth one point.
Each contestant gets two minutes of time to get as many questions correctly and the least amount of clues they get correctly, the more points they bag. But being a timed solo round, if they don't know the answer no matter how many clues are revealed to them, they can say "move on" and a new question is given to them with a new set of clues, but they don't get any points from it.
After all four contestants finish their solo rounds, the scores are announced and the contestant who has scored the least in that round is eliminated from the show.
Round 2
Three contestants remain and the scores are reset to zero for Round 2.
It is basically the same as the first round, but this time it's an on the buzzer round where everyone can play. The contestant who buzzes in and answers correctly based on how many clues are revealed score that amount of points, to which they are now given three separate questions based on that answer on the previous question they answered. Each correct answer is worth a point, if they don't know the answer, the question is opened up to the other two contestants on the buzzer for them to steal that point if they get it correct.
After that round is done, you can probably guess what happens next. Yup! The lowest scorer is gone from the game.
Final Round
It's a head-to-head battle for the title of "Cleverdick".
A white line at the top of the battle board slowly comes down from the screen and the remaining two contestants in turn have to answer a series of questions, if they get a wrong answer or they don't answer within a short time period, an upside down triangle is added onto their side stack, if they get a right answer, that triangle is removed from their side.
Whoever breaks the white line first is eliminated from the game and the winner is announced today's "Cleverdick" and gets to come back on the next edition. And here is where we end the show for today right?
Bonus Round
Well, not exactly. There is one more round for our Cleverdick of the day to go through.
It's a two minute timed game where the Cleverdick has to answer a series of questions that are dropped from the top where one is dropped every six seconds. The Cleverdick has to answer the question at the bottom of the pile correctly to remove it from the stack in order to answer the next question correctly from the bottom. The Cleverdick also gets two "DROPS", which helps them to get rid of the question if they don't know the answer to it. There is an unmoved white line at the top of the question pile and if the Cleverdick survives the two minutes, they win a cash prize, if the top question breaks the white line, the game is over and the prize fund is rolled over to the next show.
The prize fund increases £1,000 for each edition if the Cleverdick loses the bonus round.
