Fair Deal
Synopsis
Radio game devised to order for magician David Nixon. His magic show was not broadcast in the South of England, so he asked Ian Messiter to come up with a broadcastable game that he could front to regain his TV presence.
It later transferred to radio, and was revived under the auspices of one Teesside funster as Dealing with Daniels (q.v. for a format description).
Trivia
Initially, two pilots but neither was broadcast as the chairman struggled to keep both the comedy and quiz parts of the game flowing. (The panel of one show was Michael Flanders, Charmian Innes and Paul Jennings.) Since Ian Messiter had such a successful track record with the Beeb by that time, an almost unprecedented third pilot was commissioned with tightened-up rules and magician David Nixon at the helm - with panellists June Whitfield, Patrick Moore and Willie Rushton.
