Synopsis
Established in 1984, the Roux Scholarship provides training for a gourmet chef. One winner spends three months in a top-quality restaurant of their choice, a number of finalists benefit from the experience of Michel and Albert Roux and other name chefs.
The Roux Scholarship came to television in 2012, as a documentary series covering the 2011 contest and the winner's training. By 2013, the show was stripped daily, in a format similar to some Masterchef variants: after an initial selection is made from paper applicants, regional heats boil down to national finalists, and the eventual winner. The show's emphasis is on training and improvement, all the criticism is constructive and positive.
