The company was founded by Tom Gutteridge in 1985 as Mentorn Films. In 1997, it was merged with Barraclough Carey Productions to become Mentorn Barraclough Carey, which was owned at the time by The Television Corporation until 2006 where it was purchased by Tinopolis with the Barraclough Carey merger name being dropped to just simply Mentorn.
